Rooting and installing a custom ROM on a Samsung Galaxy SL GT-i9003 Part 1
Hey guys!
Does anyone have a Samsung Galaxy SL? Did you ever wish to root it and update it to KitKat?
Well, Here's how: (Credits: SharPro)
WARNING: If done incorrectly, it can damage your phone and leave it unusable (i.e. bricked). Please note that this WILL void your warranty, but since this is a somewhat old phone, don't worry - you're not under warranty
First, download Odin: Odin (Click this link, this version worked for me)
Next, get the correct (and mind you, CORRECT) CF-ROOT file: CF-ROOT file (Check your baseband version in Settings > About Phone > Baseband version(Check the letters) )
You will also need Samsung USB Drivers - search for it on Google
Now, put the phone into download mode (Turn off the phone > press Power+Home+Volume Down)
It will look like "Downloading. Do not turn off target!"
Now, connect the phone to your computer and start Odin
There will be a yellow box in Odin
Click on the PDA button and choose the CF-ROOT file you downloaded for your phone
Then click start. If it is successful then the phone will reboot with a green box with PASS! written on it
Congratulations for your new rooted phone :D
